Balloons and Bugs!

Week 3 of class went great and here's what happened this past week!

 

I did finally go to bed on Monday morning at 7:30 am after spending all night scrubbing my apartment crazy clean!! I found a hole around the pipes in my bathroom under the sink and realized that is where the nasty bugs are getting in! GROSS!! The maintenance guys came and filled in the hole for me. Then I went to home depot this week and bought some bug killing spray for inside and outside of my apartment. As I was spraying in my bathroom a roach was in my bathroom and was running away as I was spraying (good sign, but really FREAKED me out!!!) incredibly disgusting. I kind of went a little out of control and sprayed around my entire building, but I don't feel bad at all because I DON'T DO BUGS.

 

I finally booked my flight home for Christmas and on Wednesday, so I'll be home around 11:30am on Thursday, December 19th!! I'm so excited!! Also, on Wednesday, I had dinner with Dr. Kevin Pallis and his daughters and some other Life students. Listening to him talk is so inspiring on my new life as a chiropractor! He is speaking at a seminar on this coming Saturday in Detroit, and myself and other students are making the road trip to hear him speak!!

 

I talked to my Dad on Friday and we were talking about Thanksgiving and me not coming home, and my wonderful Dad bought me a plane ticket home and I'm super excited to be home in a month!! I have been feeling really homesick lately, and not having to wait 2 months is SO EXCITING!!

 

I made plans with Amanda and Adam to hang out this weekend and do SOMETHING on Friday and Saturday. On Friday we went to the movie The Counselor which was the worst movie EVER, don't go see it, save your money. After the movie, we went to Marlow's Tavern which was amazing, best tuna appetizer I've EVER had. I honestly almost went there tonight to get it to go.

 

On Saturday, we had all heard of this event at Kennesaw State University which is kind of like a street fair and the big main attraction: riding in a hot air balloon. We were so excited, but unfortunately there were a lot of flaws in the event.

1st) we got there at 6pm...it took an hour to get in the door

2nd) the advertising was $15 for everything unless you bought food or something from the vendors...well, they also charged you for the balloon rides (which was fine, cause' we wanted to do it, we were willing to pay the extra $10)

3rd) We got in line for the hot air balloon tickets and after about 3 minutes, we were told that they were sold out of tickets because they ran out of fuel for the hot air balloons. :(  We were not happy, so we left and went to another bar and hung out there until we went home. I got home and went to bed and was planning on going to try another new church today, but I woke up with a terrible headache so decided against it. Then I got up to go to the bathroom and found this cockroach in my hallway, bright side it was dead so my spraying for bugs obviously helped, but I was still really grossed out to find this in my apartment!!

                                        

Anyway, after that nasty thing got flushed down the toilet, I spent most of the day trying to get over this terrible headache. It finally went away by 5 and I've been doing a lot of studying and lounging around in my apartment. I'm probably going to stay up late tonight and keep studying since I don't have class tomorrow. I'm excited for this week to be over because I have 3 tests this week and then after my last test it's off to Detroit for a seminar and I'm so excited!!!

WEEK 2!

I got the HP cds and it fixed my computer!! Yay!!

Class went really well this week, and the week flew by! I was supposed to hang out with Adam and Amanda on Wednesday and it rained out the event in the park. We did hang out on Thursday and watch American Horror Story.

Since then I haven't done much during the weekend. I tried another new church (I've now tried two) but I didn't really like it, so I'll probably be trying another one next week! After church I was just chilling at my apartment, watched Once Upon A Time, the Bronco's game and visited with my wonderful boyfriend on Skype. I got ready to go to sleep after hanging up with him and went into the bathroom and about had a panic attack when a cockroach scurried across my bathroom floor! FREAKED OUT, called Michael and basically bawled my head off until he calmed me down and the roach was flushed down the toilet. Now let me just premise that I keep my apartment SUPER clean, so I freaked out. This was at 1am....It's now 6:31 am and I still haven't gone to sleep yet because I have done nothing but clean my apartment like CRAZY. Seriously, it smells like bleach and deodorizer in here, I EXTRA-CLEANED my apartment, and I'm still too grossed out even after showering to go to sleep because I keep thinking there is a cockroach in here, even though through all of the extensive cleaning I haven't found any more, I'm still freaked out. Hoping I get too tired and will go to sleep soon. The bright side I don't have class on Mondays so when I do decide to go to sleep at least I know I don't have to worry about missing class. Anyway, TTFN people!

The Bad and The Good

The Bad...

I've been a little frustrated since Friday. My car had been acting up all week, and I thought it was just because I'm not used to driving up and down hills, but I figured it was bad when it kept stalling. Took it to the dealership and they told me it was draining axle fluid and needed a new axle seal...whatever that is, lol. On the bright side they gave me a free rent-a-car from enterprise so I got to drive around a Chevy Sonic, not going to lie, cute car! It was supposed to be done by today (the main reason being they had to order the part to fix it) but thankfully it was done earlier, and I got it back yesterday! Yay!!

The other thing that broke...my computer!! AHH!!! I need this to do my homework and do research!! It still isn't fixed yet, but I called HP and they are sending me a recovery disk tomorrow. Hopefully that fixes it, otherwise I will have to buy a new computer. Ugh, let's hope it works!!

The Good!
The cable guy came and hooked up my TV and internet!! YAY!! Trying to catch up on my shows seeing as how I missed out on them for 2 weeks, but don't worry I'm still studying!! In fact, today in class our assignment from last week was to read 2 chapters and today if we answered questions we got extra credit, and I got 5 points!!

Also, I made a friend!! Her name is not kidding, Amanda, lol, but I'm thrilled to have a friend!! On Friday night I wanted to do something fun because all I'd been doing was studying in my apartment and stealing internet from my neighbor and watching Netflix on my blue-ray. So, there is a bar pretty much across the street from my apartment complex called 120 Tavern and Music Hall and I decided to go check it out. Obviously, going to a bar alone as a girl is kind of scary, but having worked in a bar the last few years, I think I know how to spot the crazies and the normal people in a bar. I wanted to go on Friday cause I saw it was a day that they have live music. I sat down at the bar and was visiting with the bartender because I obviously didn't know any specials or what kind of bar it was and we started visiting about how I just moved there. There was a couple (Adam and Amanda) a few chairs away from me and they overheard me talking about being new in town and interrupted us to tell me that they just moved here too (they are from Conyers, GA) and that they were trying to make friends!! We visited pretty much all night and we found out that we have a lot in common besides our first names. I'm excited because on Wednesday we are going to hang out and watch American Horror Story: Coven together and then on Thursday we are going to an event in a park in Marietta that is kind of like the Fargo Street Fair!! Yay!! So excited to have someone to hang out with!! Anyway, I should probably get back to my studying I need to finish a paper!!

1st Week Of School!

Well, I finally finished class for the week! It went great! I have a Psychology class, a Nutrition/Cooking class and then a 1st Aid and CPR class. So since last week, I did find the grocery store, yay!

I took this picture at the Kroger(grocery store), it's hillarious this whole aisle is Coke. Coke, cherry coke, diet coke, diet cherry coke, coke zero...lol, you get the idea. They really like Coke here...I mean, Coke started in Atlanta so that makes sense, but I thought it was funny. 

Anyway, Sunday and Monday (I lucked out this quarter, no classes on Mondays!!) I explored my new city and found different things I need to know. I.E. Grocery, police, fire department, pharmacy, hospital, walk-in clinic, post office, bank...etc...

Anyway, then when I was done exploring, I came home and got my backpack ready for school on Tuesday. My dad bought me a Blue-ray player before he left and it can go on the internet (which I'm stealing from the neighbor) so I've been watching Netflix on it until I get my cable/internet set up tomorrow night.

Anyway, class went great on Tuesday and I found everything I needed to on campus. My nutrition/cooking class meets on Wednesdays and we talk about Nutrition and different food groups on the food pyramid and then whichever one we learned about we cook after the lecture part of class. My group got crepes, aka Swedish pancakes, so good!!

Yesterday there was a club fair on campus when my psychology class meets, but our teacher wanted to let us go so class was only about 10 minutes long! Went to the club fair and learned a lot about different clubs I can join. Not sure what I'm going to do yet since most of them apply to chiropractic and I'm not in the program until April. After the fair decided to go and tan/swim at the pool at my apartment.



Then after that, I waited around for Lowe's to come and deliver my washer/dryer. I was so excited to have them come and now I have clean clothes!! Yay!!

I'm sitting in the library right now since my last class got over with watching Grey's Anatomy, lol, I've missed my shows!  Then, I'm going to go shopping and get the last of what I need for my apartment!

MOVE-IN DAY!!

Friday was SUCH a long day!!

Met with my insurance agent in the morning to get my renter's insurance set in stone for my new place. 

Then we drove to my new place and I checked-in to my new apartment building. I got the keys and then we started unloading the cars and the uhaul. Dad and Jack were so thrilled to get rid of the uhaul.

We spent the rest of the day unpacking and putting things away and mom and I went to walmart (which so far is the only close grocery store I've seen) to go get things that my apartment needed.

The hallway with the bedroom has a door to close from the living/dining area. The door at the end of this hallway is the bathroom, then the water heater closet, and then the double doors are to the washer/dryer.

That door goes to the closet. It's so nice, 2 sections to hang clothes on both sides and then lots of shelving on both sides.

This black door is a little storage area off of the patio that I have, random but super nice that I have it!

Did I mention that I have a pool? One is a kiddie pool! The building to the left is a community room that you can rent out on the 2nd floor. The main floor has a laundry room if you don't have a washer/dryer and then there's also a workout room too.

This is towards the entry to my apartment complex. It's where you take the garbage out. It's really nice, the garbage goes through that window and then there is a recycling section too. Right behind this is 2 tennis courts.

Yay! I love my new place! After unpacking we went to P.F. Changs for dinner and we finally got to celebrate Dad's birthday so we got some cake for dessert.

Then we went home and went to bed because we were so tired from the long day! Yesterday we went to downtown Atlanta. We had brunch at a diner downtown and then we walked to the Georgia Aquarium. After the Georgia Aquarium we went to gift shop from The World of Coca-Cola. We got some shirts and some coke of course! Jack got a hat that says Coca-Cola but you can't really tell in this picture. 

Then we went and explored an area called Marietta Square to see the shops and restaurants in it. Dad wanted seafood so we ended up googling that and we went to Marietta Fish Market.

The seafood was awesome and then we got one of their huge desserts. As you can probably assume we have leftover carrot cake.

Then we made a quick stop to walmart and bought some more stuff for the apartment came home and went to bed. 

They all just got back on the road and are headed to the Jack Daniel's Distillary in Tennessee while they head back to Fargo. As for me, not exactly sure what I'm going to do for the next 2 days til I start school, but it will probably be some exploring around my new city and a trip to go get groceries!

After we went to the Country Music Hall of Fame, Mom and I made it to Atlanta on Tuesday around 4:45pm. We rushed to my new power company for my new apartment before it closed at 5 so we could set up my power for Friday. Got it all set up! Yay! Then we found where my new apartment is, even though it is in a gated community we thought it looks nice through the gate!! Lol, it's about a 5 minute drive to my new school!! If you should ever come visit me, it's right next to the big chicken!!

 

I started orientation on Wednesday and it went great! I finished orientation today and am all set up for school next week! All I have to do is get my books and I'm ready!! I think I'm going to go and get them on Monday! Mom and I are still waiting for Dad and Jack to get here, last I heard they were somewhere in Tennessee! Let's hope they get here soon!! Tomorrow I get the keys to my new apartment and we can move me in!! I'm so excited!!  Until next time people, have a good night!!
